1 cabbage
2 large onions
14-28oz canned chopped tomatoes
2 green peppers
4 stalks of celery
6 carrots
½ pound green beans
herbs, salt and pepper to taste

  • Mix together in a large saucepan and bring to the boil
  • Simmer until vegetables are soft

Once the soup has been prepared store it in the fridge and heat up as needed. Day four: Up to eight bananas and up to eight glasses of skimmed milk.
Day five: Up to twenty ounces of lean meat such as chicken or fish and up to six tomatoes
Day six: The meat and vegetables (excluding potatoes) plus at least one bowl of the soup
Day seven: Brown rice, vegetables (excluding potatoes) and unsweetened fruit juice.

 

Risks of the cabbage soup diet

The cabbage soup diet is a low calorie diet that is designed to promote quick weight loss. It is not nutritionally complete and should not be followed for more than a week at a time.

One of the main problems that nutritionists have with the diet is that it is high salt but that is easily remedied by not adding salt to the soup. This can leave it tasting very bland.
