Dr Siegal's Cookie Diet Review
"When You're Hungry.... Eat a Cookie"

Cookie Diet

Dr Siegal Cookie Diet :: Overview

After years of research, in 1975 Dr. Sanford Siegal created a diet cookie to help his patients lose weight by safely controlling their appetites while dieting. 30 years later, the Dr Siegal Cookie Diet still continues to provide quality, nutritious cookies as an alternative to hoodia pills and other appetite suppression methods. Hundreds of doctors in North America have also adopted Dr. Siegal's diet foods for their own practices. If you are one of the many that get side-tracked or lose motivation because of intense hunger between meals the cookie diet may be your answer. Dr. Siegal is no longer the provider for the Smart for Life Cookie Diet and has now made his product available online.

Pros and Cons to Consider

Cookie Diet ProductsPros

  • Safe alternative to pills for curbing appetite while dieting.
  • Affordable at $56.00 for a weekly box.
  • Dr. Siegal seems to have a genuine concern for health and recommends using the cookie diet under doctor supervision.
  • Cookie contains nutritious blend of fiber and blend of protein amino acids.
  • Weight loss can be significant (15 pounds a month). Some dieticians feels the rapid weight loss seen while using the cookie diet may not be healthy for some dieters.

How Does The Cookie Diet Work?

The premise around the cookie diet is to promote weight loss by consuming a cookie when hunger strikes. Dr. Siegal created a unique blend of protein amino acids that have shown to reduce the appetite when consumed. The effectiveness of the cookie diet has helped most dieters not to exceed more than 1000 calories a day. The instructions included with the cookies are very simple. "When hungry, eat a cookie".

Dieters will eat 6 cookies throughout the day and a sensible meal for dinner consisting of green veggies and a lean meat (such as chicken breast).

Available Flavors

The cookies are available in oatmeal, raisin, chocolate, blueberry, banana, and coconut. The cookies do not contain high amounts of sugar and have a good blend of protein, fiber, and carbohydrates. Each cookie contains about 4g of Fat (give or take). Although the cookies don't taste like oreo's they are still edible and the variety of flavors reduces the chances of the dieter getting bored. For more variety, meal replacement shakes are also available that contain the appetite suppressing amino acids offered in the cookies.

The thought of using cookie and diet in the same sentence seems very ridiculous however, if the cookies have nutritional value and can aid dieters in losing weight our only question is "What flavors can I get". The cookie diet comes in five varieties: chocolate, Oatmeal Raisin, Coconut, Banana, and Blueberry.

I use the cookies from the cookie diet in conjunction with reasonable meals and have done quite well losing weight. I have to travel a lot on business and the cookies are packaged well in the resealable packs so it gives me a ready snack that is not totally unhealthy -- unlike most things you find on the road. They are the perfect travel food imho.

First 3 weeks I lost 12 pounds. Week 4 -1 pound. I am on Week 5 and 1 pound. Trying to get past the plateau. Any suggestions? I exercise every day. Love the oatmeal raisin. Choc. was bland. Got $10 discount at Walgreen's.com. So easy and I am not hungry. Lean meat, fish and green veg. get boring. That is all that is allowed for it to really work.

I was diagnosed with heart failure 2 yrs. ago and put on a no salt 1200 cal. diet. I've felt great, however, I just got out of the hospital and the heart failure has continued to progress. Now I have high blood pressure, diabetes, and stage 2 renal failure to go with it. The diet is now no salt, no sugar, 1200 cal. I can't loose weight eating 1200 cals. I need to stay around 800-1000 cal. to lose weight, I'm a 53 yr old grandma living a sedentary life. I need to loose 70 lbs. minimum. Is the Cookie diet safe for me?

@Patricia - Yes, the products do contain soy. I don't believe any of the products contain hazelnut. Let us know if any more questions.

Do the products contain soy protein or hazelnuts - I have allergies to both.
