South Beach Diet Review :: Overview
The South Beach Diet was created by Dr. Arthur Agatston in the early 1990's to help his patients reduce the risk of heart disease, heart attacks, and strokes. After word spread about the success of his diet, Dr. Agatston wrote and published The South Beach Diet® which quickly made its way onto the New York Times best seller list. Millions of copies and success stories later, the diet is now available online. The South Beach Diet is divided into three phases that will change your life without sacrificing taste or skipping meals. We will examine these phases later in this review.

As mentioned earlier, The South Beach Diet is broken up into three phases. Phase One of the diet lasts two weeks and will probably prove to be the most challenging. However, motivation should be very high as changes in your body will be noticed immediately. The purpose of phase one is to eliminate the desire for sugar and refined starches while giving the body nutrient-dense food that is full of flavor. Foods that are allowed include lean proteins such as fish and other seafood's, skinless white meat, and lean beef. Reduced fat cheeses and low fat dairy is also allowed. To top it off, two snacks are allowed each day.
Phase two is where dieters will spend most of their time (until target weight is reached). Phase two is an important step in building a strong foundation for good eating habits and a healthier you. During phase two, all the foods mentioned in Phase 1 can be consumed in addition to good carbs such as whole-grain bread, whole wheat pastas, brown rice, veggies, and more. You also get to enjoy the snacks and deserts.
Once your target weight is reached you will enter phase three. The principles learned in phases one and two still apply but during this phase you can enjoy occasional indulgences.
At the time of this review, the South Beach website is offering a free 1 week trial so you can test drive the diet that has helped thousands. Included with the free trail is access to your free diet profile. If you are not satisfied after the trial period you pay nothing. If you decide this diet is for you, the cost is only $5 a week. We feel the cost of this diet is worth a lifetime of health. Our readers agree. A recent survey conducted in the 4th quarter of 2007 named The South Beach Diet as the tastiest diet of the year. Most diets are unrealistic and end in failure because they do not teach dieters how to modify eating habits. This is the biggest disparity between The South Beach Diet and others. Learning what to eat can be the difference between losing weight and losing health. For more information, visit the official South Beach Diet website.
