Childhood obesity is on the rise, as the number is over triple what it was 30 years ago, with roughly 1 out of 6 children and teenagers being overweight or obese. And a lot of places are pointing the fingers at the fast food restaurants. Recently, San Francisco took an initiative and made the city the first to ban giving away free toys with a happy meal purchase. This shows that the city is taking the helm and trying to give children healthier meal options… or does it?
Obesity in children is one of the most concerning issues in the US, and McDonald’s has responded by stating it will have healthier meal options by March 2012, including smaller fry portions or apples and milk so that children will be able to eat more healthful food.
